As the product of a caring community of coaches, mentors, and teammates, Devon Buskin is a true believer in the developmental power of youth sports. For him, youth programs he was apart of, offered an opportunity to explore his strengths and build the skills he needed to be successful later in life. This crucial experience is something Devon works to pass along to future generations as the Founder and CEO of The Detroit City Lions Youth Club (DCL) Founded in 2018, DCL provides over 300 young people ages 5 to 24 with equitable access to sports, STEAM, educational, and workforce development programming & skill-building activities. Under Devon’s leadership, the organization has expanded from its original football program to include over 10 unique athletic opportunities including basketball, baseball, soccer, cheer, and dance, lacrosse, robotics, theatre & arts, art & culture, vollyball, and culinary arts. Many of DCL’s youth participate in multiple programs in the organization, keeping them engaged and active year-round. The organization also offers wraparound family services and academic support to help create well-rounded student-athletes and ensure that participants can take full advantage of future scholarship opportunities. With the ultimate goal of exposing & connecting youth to successful sport career pathways. Which will ultimately diversify the sports industry. In addition to his role with DCL, Devon also serves as Director of Workforce Development at Greening of Detroit where he has led a Nationally recognized training program and employment of over 800 Detroit residents with a goal of 2500 into green-collar jobs that help revitalize their neighborhoods and city. His passion for youth engagement also drives his involvement as the administrator of the organization’s Green Corps Youth Employment Program which employs over 100 students each summer, providing both work and college prep experience. Over the course of his career, Devon has received several local and national recognitions for his work and mentorship including the 2015 National Leadership Award from the US. George Williams

Vice President of Operations

I take pride in creating great athletes, and in mentoring young men and women as they develop character, social skills, and achieve academic excellence. It is my goal to make sure athletes know there is a life after sports. As a positive influencer since DCL’s beginning, I have a passion for giving back to children. It is an honor to take the lead as VP of Operations. I bring more than 15 years of coaching experience across many ages and levels of youth sports.

Kimberli Smith

Information Technology Administrator

My goal is to challenge our children through play based education. It is my belief that play encourages inspiration and creativity while allowing children to learn new things in a relaxed environment. Early introduction to technology helps children problem solve, teaches resilience, encourages use of logic, and inspires creativity. It is my goal to teach 150 children how to code annually, and inspire career paths in a STEAM field.

Jessica Perie

Fund Development & Events Officer

I have always had a passion for fundraising. DCL gives me the opportunity to support Metro Detroit area youth with quality programming with a variety of fun events and fundraisers. I am honored to partner with Detroit City Lions as we work to support the mission of free to play activities for our youth. My goal is to facilitate high-yield fundraisers to support DCL programming and our community efforts to support free to play activities.

Kalyse (K Edmonds) Edmondson

Theater & Arts Literacy Program Manager

K Edmonds realized at an early age how a great story has the power to touch people's lives. How theatre boosts one's self-confidence, how it gives a voice to the voiceless. She knew then that she wanted to ignite that in her community. Years later K remains an advocate for arts in education and has been working to bring the joy of the performing arts to the next generation, just as the teachers and directors she knew did for her. K is excited to partner with DCL this year.
