Tammy Jordan aka Coach Twinkie has been a cheer and dance professional for more than two decades. Having worked with the NBA, NFL, NCAA and high school level competitions, Coach Twinkie brings a solid foundation in athletic entertainment and has established herself as a no-nonsense coach committed to inspiring professionalism and a competitive spirit to the DCL organization.
Ashanté Williams is an energetic new addition to the coaching staff. She has more than 13 years of dance and cheer experience which includes time spent as a cheerleader for the NBA and NFL. Ashanté is more than exited to be a part of the Detroit City Lions and cannot wait to see what the season has in store!
Junior coach, Imani Buskin, is a graduating senior at University High School Academy. Imani has nearly a decade of dance with previous experience through The Zone and Legacy Dance Studio as part of gold and platinum winning competition teams. Imani is an AKATEENS mentoree and is on the executive board for U Cares. Imani's love for dance and guiding young girls drives her passion for sharing the styles and techniques of dance, while hoping to build lasting memories and relationships.
Our varsity cheerleaders focus on advanced cheer techniques such as tumbling and stunts as well as participation in competitive cheer competitions. Varsity cheer leaders set the pace for the team and are encouraged to become mentors for the younger cheer leaders.
Detroit City Lions Varsity cheerleaders encompass the five main responsibilities of a cheerleader: Crowd Leader, Spirit Raiser, Ambassador, Athlete and Entertainer. Additionally, our athletes are required to maintain a GPA which meets the national standard for all student athletes.
Junior Varsity cheerleaders work witGh the Varsity cheerleaders to transition from mastery of cheer fundamentals to more advanced cheer techniques. Varsity cheerleaders work with the JV team as mentors encouraging the team to develop their own routines.

Mighty Mites learn the fundamentals of cheer. The focus is teaching our Mighty Mites the importance of learning to cheer safely. As Mighty Mites work with the Junior Varsity team, they begin to do basic stunts and are also encouraged to develop their own routines.
Mighty Mites work with Junior Varsity cheerleaders to build confidence as they begin to learn the importance of cheerleader responsibilities. Mighty Mites are also required to maintain a GPA which meets the national standard for all student athletes.
